More information

For applicants sitting two or more of the 4 tests. Each test has its own practice, on the parts of that test we cover.

60 questions, each with five options and one correct answer. The test is in English, and you take it from home. It lasts 120 minutes, in three timed parts. Scientific Thinking and Academic Literacy: 45 minutes. Biology and Chemistry: 35 minutes. Mathematics and Physics: 40 minutes. Each subject has 10 questions. At the end, 6 reserve questions take 12 extra minutes. They count only if a main question is cancelled. There are two rounds each year. Students in their second-to-last school year can sit it. Their score then counts only for the next year.

Our practice: parts 2 and 3 timed, each on its own clock, plus Scientific Thinking practice, with the HUMAT's points for Medicine. Academic Literacy, the reading questions in the first part: our practice has none.

65 multiple-choice questions with five options, in 65 minutes, all in English. You take it on a computer from home, watched online, at a time you choose. The parts: General Knowledge 2, Logical Reasoning 20, Biology 18, Chemistry 12, Physics and Mathematics 8, Ethics and Religious Culture 5. 7 backup questions count only if a question is faulty. No phones, calculators, tablets, books, notes or second monitor. You cannot leave the room after the ID check. The guidelines do not mention scrap paper or a pen. The paid simulator is for practice only: test questions will not come from it. Cattolica's Bolzano campus has its own separate test.

Our practice: timed practice for the logic and science parts. The ethics and religious culture questions, and the general knowledge questions: our practice has none.

60 multiple-choice questions in English, in 80 minutes. 36 are logic, problem solving and reading. 24 are science: biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. You take it from home, watched online through ProctorExam. Every video is checked afterwards. You need two devices. A laptop runs Chrome with the ProctorExam plug-in. A phone or tablet runs the ProctorExam app, placed behind you. You may use two sheets of blank paper and a pen. No calculator, headphones, books or notes. Sit alone in a room with one door, and do not leave it for any reason. 7 reserve questions at the end count only if a main question is cancelled. If the platform fails, you may get a spare session. The call does not say how many options each question has. From 5 days before, you get instructions to check your set-up. The call describes no practice test. Students with a disability or learning difference can ask for extra time (50% or 30%), a basic calculator and a helper who reads or writes.

Our practice: full timed papers. San Raffaele publishes no topic list and does not say how many options each question has, so our papers may differ from the real ones.

60 multiple-choice questions, each with five options, all in English. There are 20 Biology, 20 Chemistry and 20 Physics questions. There is no logic section. The test lasts 100 minutes. You sit it in person in Rome, on one date. Questions are drawn at random from the university's own archive. No phones, calculators, books or notes. Medicine and Surgery and MedTech are separate courses, both taught in English. You register and pay once for each course. Registering opens an official online simulator of the test. Students with a certified disability or learning difference can get up to 50% more time.

Our practice: full timed papers. The school's own question archive and simulator: our questions are our own.

San Raffaele: logic and reasoning

Our sample

Hospital A treats more seriously ill patients than Hospital B. Last year, 8% of A's patients died, and 5% of B's. A newspaper said: "Hospital B gives better care." Which statement, if true, most weakens this claim?

Tap an answer to see the explanation.

Show the answer

The answer is B: Seriously ill patients are much more likely to die, in any hospital..

  • A) Wrong. A building's age says nothing about why more patients died at A.
  • B) Right. The hospitals treat different patients. If serious illness itself raises the risk, A's higher rate can come from sicker patients, not worse care.
  • C) Wrong. More doctors is a fact about A. It does not explain why more of its patients died.
  • D) Wrong. The rates are percentages, so the number of patients does not explain the gap.
  • E) Wrong. Where patients came from does not explain why more of them died.

Questions

Before you buy All-School Prep

I apply to two schools. Which plan fits?

All-School Prep. One plan covers both your tests, and the other 2 if you add a school later. Single-School Prep covers one school only. Not sure which tests you will sit? Compare the 4 tests.

Is the HUMAT a full paper?

No. You practise parts 2 and 3 timed, one part at a time, plus Scientific Thinking. Academic Literacy, the reading questions in the first part: our practice has none. San Raffaele and Campus Bio-Medico practice are full timed papers. Cattolica practice covers its logic and science parts, timed.

San Raffaele has no topic list. What do I study?

36 are logic, problem solving and reading. UniSR publishes no topic list, only how many questions of each type. So logic is most of the paper: start there. Read the San Raffaele guide.

Does it include the live course?

No. The live course is the Crash Course + All-School Prep, a separate plan.
