Campus Bio-Medico: chemistry

Our sample

What is the pH of a 0.001 mol/L solution of hydrochloric acid (HCl)?

Tap an answer to see the explanation.

Show the answer

The answer is D: 3.

  • A) Wrong. 0.001 is the concentration, not the pH.
  • B) Wrong. pH 1 needs 0.1 mol/L of H⁺.
  • C) Wrong. pH 2 needs 0.01 mol/L of H⁺.
  • D) Right. HCl is a strong acid, so all of it splits into ions: [H⁺] = 0.001 = 10⁻³ mol/L. pH = −log[H⁺] = 3.
  • E) Wrong. The trap: pH 11 is a base. You get it from 0.001 mol/L of NaOH.

Your Campus Bio-Medico questions, answered

Is there really no logic section?

There is no logic section. There are 20 Biology, 20 Chemistry and 20 Physics questions.

Can I apply to Medicine and MedTech?

Applying to both courses means paying twice. There is one test date a year, and you can compete for both courses.

How do I apply to Campus Bio-Medico, step by step?

You apply yourself: we are not an agent, and we do not apply for you.

  1. Attach your English certificate before you pay the fee, if you have one: the application locks when you pay. See English.
  2. Register and pay once for each course you want. See the test fee.
  3. Sit the test in Rome, on the one date.
  4. Check the ranking, and enrol and pay in the first window, or the place moves down the list. See tuition.

What score gets a place?

You need at least 12 of 60 to be eligible for a place. In 2026, the first 84 in Medicine and the first 68 in MedTech won places. On the first 2026 Medicine list, the 84th place scored just over 48 of 60. Others moved up as places came free. Read the 2026 score lines.

I have no English certificate yet. Can I still apply?

You need B2 English, shown by a certificate on UCBM's list. Examples: IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL iBT 46 to 93, or Cambridge B2 First. Attach it before you pay the fee: the application locks when you pay. No certificate yet? You can still sit the test, marked with an asterisk. In 2026 you then had to upload one between 20 March and 19 June, 13:00. Without it, you are left out of the final ranking. A full year at a school or university taught entirely in English also counts.

When is the 2027/28 call?

Not published yet. Last year (2026): Registration ran from 29 October 2025 to 6 February 2026, 13:00 CET. The test was on 19 February 2026, in Rome. The first ranking came by 27 February. Winners enrolled from 2 to 10 March and paid EUR 8,000. Places moved down the list from 20 March. The final ranking came by 3 July. A second enrolment window ran from 10 to 24 July. We update this page when UCBM publishes it.

Applying from outside the EU, and living abroad?

Non-EU applicants living abroad have a separate call. This page reads the call for EU applicants and non-EU applicants living in Italy.

A blank scores 0. The maximum is 60. You need at least 12 of 60 to be eligible for a place. In 2026, the first 84 in Medicine and the first 68 in MedTech won places. Others moved up as places came free. Notices usually came on Tuesdays and Fridays. On the first 2026 Medicine list, the 84th place scored just over 48 of 60. That list showed 476 candidates, and 471 reached the minimum. Ties go to the better Biology score, then Chemistry, then Mathematics. After that, the younger candidate wins.

You pay EUR 8,000 plus the tax at enrolment, then two payments of EUR 5,500. The first payment comes back only in these cases: if you do not get your school diploma in 2025/26; if you enrolled with conditions and lose your place because the ministry cuts places; or if you get the UCBM scholarship after another winner withdraws. If a scholarship is not accepted by 4 March 2026, it passes to the next candidate, and enrolled candidates with an ISEE below EUR 28,000 may get the first payment back. Otherwise, fees are not refunded. There are two merit scholarships, one per course. The top-ranked winner with an ISEE (Italian family income index) up to EUR 28,000 pays half the fee for six years, on the second and third payments. To keep it, you must earn enough credits each year and keep an average of at least 27/30.

Places

In 2026: 84 places in Medicine and Surgery and 68 in MedTech. The ministry can still change these numbers.

Who can apply

This route is for Italian and EU citizens, and non-EU citizens living legally in Italy. Non-EU applicants living abroad have a separate call.

This call is for students who have a diploma, or who finish school in 2025/26. If you finish school later, look for a later call. You need at least 12 years of school. With 10 or 11 years, you also need 1 to 2 years of passed university study. A diploma from abroad needs a Dichiarazione di Valore or a CIMEA comparability certificate. There is one test date a year, and you can compete for both courses. After enrolment, a test checks core subjects. Below 60% in a subject, you take extra courses in your first year.
