Humanitas: Scientific Thinking
Our sampleA medicine's level in the blood halves every 6 hours. At 08:00 it is 80 mg/L. When does it first fall below 6 mg/L?
Tap an answer to see the explanation.
Show the answerThe answer
The answer is C: Between 02:00 and 08:00 the next day.
- A) Wrong. The level is 40 at 14:00 and 20 at 20:00. Both are still above 6.
- B) Wrong. At 02:00 the level is still 10, so it has not fallen below 6 yet.
- C) Right. Halve every 6 hours: 40 at 14:00, 20 at 20:00, 10 at 02:00, 5 at 08:00. It is 10 at 02:00 and 5 at 08:00, so it passes 6 in between.
- D) Wrong. The trap: the level reaches 5 at 08:00, but it went below 6 before that.
- E) Wrong. By 08:00 the level is already 5, below 6.

Where the points are
Not every question is worth the same
For Medicine, a right answer earns 22 points in Scientific Thinking and Academic Literacy. So for Medicine, practise that first part first.
- Every part counts. To be ranked, you need 192 in total. You also need 88, 64 and 40 in the three parts.
- Guessing. A wrong answer loses a quarter of those points. Guess only when you can rule out an option.
- Test day. No calculator, books, notes, phone or smartwatch. Practise maths by hand.

Humanitas
Your Humanitas questions, answered
Does Humanitas use IMAT scores?
No. Humanitas ranks you only on its own test, the HUMAT. Compare the 4 tests.
The HUMAT changed in 2026. What is different?
Humanitas publishes an official syllabus, called "Syllabi for the new test" (March 2026). So older guides may describe a different test. Read the HUMAT syllabus guide.
How do I apply to Humanitas, step by step?
You apply yourself: we are not an agent, and we do not apply for you.
- Register on the portal, with your card ready. You pay the fee by card at once: see the test fee.
- Set up a computer and a phone, and try the demo test. See the test-day rules.
- Sit round 1, and round 2 if you want. Your better result counts.
- Check the ranking in MyPORTAL, and pay by the enrolment deadline, or you lose the place. See ranking and enrolment.
What score gets a place?
The call gives no cut-off score. To be ranked, you need 192 in total. You also need 88, 64 and 40 in the three parts. Each candidate saw only their own position and status.
Is MEDTEC scored the same way?
MEDTEC uses the same test with the points reversed: Mathematics and Physics earn 22 a question.
Do I need an English certificate?
You need a B2 English certificate to enrol. If you pass the HUMAT, you do not need it.
When is the 2027/28 call?
Not published yet. Last year (2026): Registration ran from 18 November 2025 to 26 February 2026, 12:00 CET. Round 1 was on 5 and 6 March. Round 2 was on 18 and 20 March. Late registration for round 2 only ran to 12 March. Sessions started at 9:30 or 14:30 CET. The non-EU route had the same dates. We update this page when Humanitas publishes it.
Applying from outside the EU?
The non-EU route had 50 Medicine and 20 MEDTEC places. Non-EU students paid EUR 23,206 a year. Applying from abroad? Check the study visa and pre-enrolment rules (Universitaly) with each school before you pay more than one.

It lasts 120 minutes, in three timed parts. Scientific Thinking and Academic Literacy: 45 minutes. Biology and Chemistry: 35 minutes. Mathematics and Physics: 40 minutes. Each subject has 10 questions. At the end, 6 reserve questions take 12 extra minutes. They count only if a main question is cancelled. There are two rounds each year. Students in their second-to-last school year can sit it. Their score then counts only for the next year.

Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics each have five topic blocks. Mathematics includes formal logic. Physics includes optics.
