UCBM for non-EU applicants living abroad

Campus Bio-Medico's non-EU call, 2026, for non-EU citizens living abroad: 36 places in Medicine, plus 12 in MedTech; €100 per course to register; an online test on 6 February 2026 at 14:00 CET; a minimum score of 10 of 60 to be eligible. In short. Are you a non-EU citizen living abroad? Then Campus Bio-Medico (UCBM) does not rank you on its main call. In 2026 you had a call of your own, with 36 places in Medicine and Surgery and 12 in MedTech. Registration cost €100 per course. The test was online, on 6 February 2026: the same 60 science questions in 100 minutes. You needed 10 of 60 to be eligible, and the 36th Medicine place scored 52 of 60. The 2027/28 non-EU call is not out yet. Last cycle it came on 28 November.

Is this the IMAT?

No. Campus Bio-Medico is a private university in Rome, and it ranks you on its own test. This page covers its separate call for non-EU applicants who live abroad. The main call, for everyone else, is on the Campus Bio-Medico guide.

Which call is yours?

UCBM runs 2 calls for the same 2 courses, Medicine and Surgery and MedTech. Both courses are taught in English.

  • The non-EU call is for non-EU citizens who live abroad and need a long-stay study visa.
  • The main call covers the others: EU citizens, and non-EU citizens living legally in Italy. Dual citizens with an EU citizenship use it too, and so do citizens of the EEA, Switzerland, San Marino and the Holy See.

The registration fee is not refunded. So check your route before you pay, and ask UCBM if you are not sure.

On both calls, the younger candidate wins a tie that the subjects do not break.

What stays the same: 60 questions in 100 minutes, the scoring and the B2 English level.

The test

The non-EU test had the same subjects, length and scoring as the main call's.

  • 60 questions in 100 minutes: 20 biology, 20 chemistry and 20 physics. There is no logic section.
  • Scoring: a right answer earns 1 point. A wrong answer loses 0.2. A blank scores 0.
  • Online, watched remotely, through Proctor Exam. In 2026 it started at 14:00 CET.
  • Paper: a few blank sheets and a pen were allowed, for working out.
  • To be eligible: at least 10 of 60.

For the topics, start from the syllabus in UCBM's main call. It is summarised on the Campus Bio-Medico guide. Then check the non-EU call's own annex when it is published.

Answer or leave it blank?

A wrong answer costs 0.2, a fifth of a right answer. So a guess pays on average once your chance of being right is better than 1 in 6.

UCBM's main call gives 5 options per question. With 5 options, even a blind guess gains a little: 0.04 points on average. Rule out one option, and a guess gains 0.1 on average. So answer whenever you can rule something out.

The tie-break names maths

The non-EU call breaks ties on biology, then chemistry, then mathematics. That is the Italian version, which is the one that counts. The test itself has no maths section. If a tie could decide your place, ask UCBM how this is applied. On the main call, the third subject is physics.

What the 2026 Medicine list looked like

The non-EU Medicine ranking listed 214 candidates.

  • The first 36 won a place. The 36th scored 52.00 of 60. The top score was 58.80.
  • 213 reached the minimum of 10 points. One did not.
  • Then the list moved as places came free. By the 23rd update on UCBM's non-EU page, offers had reached places 127 and 128. They could enrol from 12 to 16 October 2026. That shows how far offers had gone by then. It is not a final cut-off.

On the main call, the 84th Medicine place scored 48.2 of 60 in the first round. So in 2026, the non-EU first line was higher, for fewer places. One year cannot show a trend. For every school's 2026 lines, read the 2026 results.

Money: what you pay, and when it comes back

  • Registration: €100 per course, by card only. It is not refunded. Medicine and MedTech together means 2 registrations and 2 fees.
  • If you win a place: pay €8,000 within 10 working days of the ranking. In 2026 that meant by 27 February.
  • When the €8,000 comes back: in 3 cases only. You do not get a valid school diploma in 2025/26. Your study visa is refused. Or the ministry cuts places, and you lose yours.
  • No scholarships: UCBM's scholarships are not offered on this call.
  • In July: the second enrolment step ran from 10 to 24 July 2026, with a €140 regional tax.
  • Your diploma: a Dichiarazione di valore (the Italian consulate's statement of what your diploma is worth) or a CIMEA certificate, by 25 September 2026.

UCBM's tuition for 2026/27 was €19,000 a year, for both courses, plus the €140 regional tax. The €8,000 is the first payment. Two payments of €5,500 follow.

The €8,000 comes before other schools' tests

In 2026, the non-EU payment was due by 27 February. Humanitas's first round came on 5 March, and Cattolica's test on 25 March. A better offer from another school is not on UCBM's refund list. So decide before the ranking whether you would take a UCBM place.

Applying from abroad? Check the study visa and pre-enrolment rules (Universitaly) with each school before you pay more than one.

English: B2, by 19 June

  • Level: at least B2, shown by a certificate on UCBM's list. B2 examples: IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL iBT 46 to 93, or Cambridge B2 First.
  • No certificate yet? You can still sit the test, marked with an asterisk. In 2026 you then had to send it by 19 June. UCBM's non-EU web page said 19 July, but the Italian call says 19 June, and the call prevails.
  • Have one already? Attach it when you register. On the main call, paying the fee locks the application, so the certificate must go in first.

If places are left: a September test

The 2026 non-EU call allowed a second online test if places stayed empty. UCBM was to post a notice by 19 June. Registration would then close on 27 August, with the test on 3 September 2026, at 14:00 Italian time. It is a second chance only if places remain.

When is the 2027/28 non-EU call?

Not published yet. Last cycle, UCBM published its non-EU call on 28 November 2025, a month after the main call (28 October). Registration opened on 1 December. The non-EU test then came first, on 6 February, before the main call's 19 February.

If UCBM follows last cycle, expect the non-EU call in late November 2026, and the test in February 2027. That is an expectation, not an official date. We update this page when the call is published.

What to do now

  • Book your B2 English test, if you have no certificate yet.
  • Ask now about your diploma papers: the Dichiarazione di valore or the CIMEA certificate.
  • Check the visa and pre-enrolment rules before you pay any school.
  • Choose your courses. Medicine, MedTech or both: each one is a separate registration and fee.
  • Plan the €8,000. In 2026 you had 10 working days after the ranking to pay it.
  • Practise the science. Biology, chemistry and physics only, timed: 60 questions in 100 minutes.

Our Campus Bio-Medico practice is full timed science papers at that length, scored with UCBM's rules: see Single-School Prep, and when access opens.

Practice access opens in November 2026.
